Prior to his recruitment career, he held management positions at Tower Perrin, Andersen Consulting, and Singapore Airlines. 

He holds an MBA from the University of London, a Bachelor of Engineering from the National University of Singapore, and a Diploma in HRM from the Singapore Institute of Management.
